KA-36 Delta
02-04-2010
by Matti Muoniovaara, 02-04-2010
This boat was originally commissioned by Ernest B. Fay from A. E. Luders Jr. It was the last design of Luders, design #1098 L5.5#72 year 1980. According to Warren Muir it was built by him and the building year is 1980. It is not similar to KA-32, KA-33 and KA-35. KA-33 & 35 are duplicate designs of Skagerak KA-32, a Luders design #1090 from year 1973. Ernie Fay didn't take the boat to the Nassau World Championship 1981 and the boat never got a US number. The name Delta comes from the keel design called ‘double delta’. This boat was the last experiment of Ernie in 5.5s. Ernie died at the age of 72 years 1986 suffering a heart attack when sailing on the Galveston Bay.
