- 5.5 KA 1 "Altair" - first owner R.W. Furber - 09.01.2017 by Kaspar Stubenrauch
- Jill reports from St. Helens: "...there was a Laurin designed vessel built by Woodnutts in 1955 called Altair, which was a 5.5 mtr. She was built for R.W. Furber, home port Sydney...."
- 5.5 KA-1 "Altair" - preliminary entry - 06.03.2010 by Kaspar Stubenrauch
- As the original sailnumber is not yet known and the boat seems to be an alias, the boat will be shown as original, until the full story is known.
Warren Muir reports on the boat:
"...KA1- Altair. Designed by Arvid Laurin from Sweden, built by Woodnutts on the Isle of Wight in 1955 for the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. I do not know the original country or owner. It was once owned in Australia by Bill Furber and then owned by Tony Carr about 1960. Tony Carr built a second 5.5m which was also called Altair and sailed under the KA1 sail number. This second boat was designed by Einar Ohlson in 1962, built by William (Billy) Barnett and launched in June 1962. The original Laurin Altair was then sold and became KA15 Kaiami...."
----
The Ohlson 1962 "Altair" KA-1(b)will be entered, when a solution to "a"&"b" numbers is found.
