Marina II - 22.02.2008 by Jens Busch

The original name of this boat is Marina II. She was built for Gösta Svensson. In 1966 she became Wasa III (Wallenberg-Salén) and sailed by the Sundelin brothers. Sune Carlsson also sailed the boat, but didn´t own it. (So far according to Peter Sundelin). Some years later the owner is Jan Wendin i Gothenburg and in 1974 she became Ran V, owned by Lennart "Ran-Olle" Ohlson. What happens thereafter I don´t know.

The boat also sailed as "Marina II", possibly at the end of the 60's.
Assumption: Given the name, the owner could have been Gösta Svensson.

Wasa III was built by Sune Carlsson, Saltsjöbaden, Sweden. One owner was Kyander in the 1990s. I think the sponsors were Wallenberg and Salen Wa-Sa.

Research help needed:
Anyone having access to the first measuring certificate, please add it to the documents.
So far, the first owners and the boat yard which built the boat are not known.
Being a "Wasa" it can be assumed that Wallenberg and Salén financed the boat, then we have the Sundelin brothers sailing it in the 1966 World's (4th) and in the 1967 Gold Cup (Winners); then Sune Carlsson sailing it in the 1968 Skandinavian Gold Cup; however, no firm proof of ownerships in the 60's as of yet.
