Winner was Ernie Fay US-31 Pride, (2-1-3-1-1) 112¾ pts and 2nd Al Fay US-7 Flame, (1-3-1-2-2) 111½ pts. Third was Bobby Symonette BA-1 John B2 (4-2-4-5-4) 101 pts.
32nd Seawanhaka Cup US Eliminations for the US defense, 24th September 1962 Oyster Bay:
1st Pride US-31, Pete Masterson 3 wins 25¾ pts
2nd Ariadne US-29, Alan Mooney, 1 win 25¼ pts
3rd John B2, US (BA-1), Mike Mooney, 1 win 24¼ pts
4th Chaje, US-44, Britton Chance Jr., 23 pts

After these five races best four yachts fought it ou further in a series of match races. Chaje was walloped by John B2 and Ariadne, and both of these were narrowly beaten by Pride, who was forthwith selected to defend. In the Cup races Pride met the Canadian Challenger Bibis II KC-13 of James Crang from Toronto. Bibis II was the first Canadian designed (George Cuthbertson) and built (1962) 5.5! Pride went on to win three consecutive races and won the Seawanhaka Cup. Luders designed Pride was that year the best boat of the world winning (Scandinavian Gold Cup, US Championship, Seawanhaka Cup) everything except Poole World championship —— she was not there.

The original name is really Chaje. The boat went to the US 1962 after the Poole World championship races. The Finnish owner Jussi Nemes sailed Chaje in the US Championship of Oyster Bay 10th to 14th September and placed 16th among 23 boats. Then the boat was sold and got US-44 sail letters. 24th September ’62 it was racing again off Oyster Bay with Britton Chance Jr. at the helm in the 32nd Seawanhaka Cup (first in the 5.5s) eliminations. It didn’t go to the finals (The Cup was won by Luders boat Pride US-31 of Ernie Fay helmed by Pete Masterson). 1963 it was sold to Canada and kept the US number 44, just changing KC in front, the new name was Stranger 3. The owner was then Jaypen Holdings. The boat appears in the entry list of the 1963 World championship, but does not race in the competition. Then it disappears for 39 years completely and was again found in Canada London (100 miles south west from Toronto).
